History

In the 1930s, Carmine Caramanico, an Italian immigrant, operated a small gardening service from his home in West Philadelphia. In 1946, immediately after World War II, his sons, Dan and Dom, joined him to form Carmine Caramanico & Sons, a residential lawn care service. With many new businesses in the workforce after the war, Dan and Dom knew that they had to work hard to remain in business. However, it was not just hard work that would plant their business and make it grow. They sowed in strong values as well. Quality work, excellent customer service and building strong relationships were at the root of everything they did.

In the 1960s, the business expanded to include concrete and blacktop services, quickly followed by commercial landscape installation and maintenance services. By that time the company had expanded to 13 employees.

In 1985, the business was bought by Dan’s sons, Michael and John. They incorporated the business and gradually turned their focus to commercial landscaping with a specialty in landscape maintenance and installation.

In the early 1990s, the business continued to expand and added excavation projects such as golf course and athletic field construction. This was soon followed by the addition of tree service including tree removal, pruning and maintenance. Hardscaping, including patios and retaining walls, soon followed.

Having started in West Philadelphia with one truck and a few lawn mowers, C. Caramanico & Sons, Inc. is now based in Upland, Delaware County, PA in a spacious 3-acre complex. This complex includes a modern office, a 5000-square-foot workshop for maintaining trucks and equipment, and outside storage for bulk materials and supplies.

C. Caramanico & Sons, Inc. has grown to become a multi-million-dollar, full-service commercial landscaping company offering a wide range of services including landscaping, hardscaping and organic lawn care. A dedicated staff of 55 employees has helped the company become known throughout the Greater Philadelphia region as a high-quality landscaping company that offers exceptional customer service and attention to detail. It is still a family-run business, and it now extends into the fourth generation.

The company has grown and many things have changed since those early years when Dan and Dom first began cutting residential lawns. One thing has been a constant – a focus on the values of great customer service, dedication to quality work and strong relationships.

We, together with our employees at C. Caramanico & Sons, Inc., are grateful for the opportunity to serve you over the last 71 years. We wish to thank YOU for being a loyal customer, a dedicated coworker, a colleague and a friend. We take pride in our people and the work they do for our customers.
